Sailing
Camp
The curriculum is patterned after the US Sailing Association, small boat basic
sailing program. The course is almost completely hands-on sailing with
brief tutorials given by a Certified US Sailing Instructor. The course includes learning the parts
of the sailboat, points of sail, basic knots, water safety, and boat rigging &
de-rigging. Upon successful completion of the course material and
practical testing, the student will receive a certificate from the US Sailing
Association.
Summer 2008 Schedule:
Class 1: 16 June to 27 June
Class 2: 7 July to 18 July
Class 3: 21 July to 1 August
Fee for each 2 week course is $160 per child ($140
per child of OSYC members). Class sizes are limited to 6 students minimum
and 8 students maximum for ages 9-12 yrs; and 8 minimum, 12 maximum for ages
13-17 yrs.
Minimum Requirements
The child must:

be able to swim 50' and tread water for 15
minutes.

wear protective shoes whenever in the water.

have a properly fitting USCG approved type III
or V life vest.
